I believe the American Dream should be available for all of US ...
We have a saying in our house, “together is better.” In good times and in bad, our family knew that we worked best and could overcome any challenge when we worked together. It wasn't always easy! We had dinner every night at a big table--everyone was welcomed and we all had a voice. Sometimes the debates were hot, but in the words of my father, "we had to learn to get along." My family built a good life, and my siblings and I were able to create successful lives of our own sharing what we had with our neighbors and living the example we had learned of respect and always making space for others at our table.
My story is similar to so many families across this district, and it is the story that made America flourish into the nation it is--working hard together with our communities to make a good life. Today it is getting harder for Americans to reach that Dream. We still all want the same things--Strong Education, Jobs with Fair Wages, Economic Equality, Affordable Healthcare, and Safe Communities. We need to level the playing field so every American has access to the Dream!
As a real estate broker, I built a business and helped many people in our district achieve the goal of making a home in the community. I saw first hand how our area was devastated with the market collapse of 2008 - homes lost, jobs disappeared, businesses closed, and savings meant for retirement dissolved overnight because of Wall Street greed, deregulation, and predatory lending. With that, the American Dream became a nightmare for too many people. I will go to Washington to make sure that never happens again.
Now, more than ever, we need leaders like me who understand that our best days lie in front of us if we work together to build the better future we all deserve while protecting our environment and our people. We cannot, and will not, lift ourselves up if we do not recognize our shared community, humanity, and destiny. Let us build bridges to bring us together, not walls which further divide.
Now is the time to work together to repair the growing cracks in our country’s foundation. Our highest goal must be concrete progress for everyone.
I support sensible public policy that addresses the challenges we face and makes life better for all Americans. We need to take America off the market and take our country back from those whose special interests and lobby have taken away our voice. Our voting districts are so heavily gerrymandered challenging our right to a representative government. We need leaders who are ready to stand up for people like you and me.
I am a different candidate. I’m a member of this community and district. Like you, I work hard every day to build a better life for my family and strive to defend our democratic values for all. I am running an authentic and grassroots campaign focused on people like us who want our government to work for all - a space for everyone at the table. We see our society, community, and country as one people bound by a common future.
I invite you to join me as we take our country back and continue to write the story of America.
